“No one wants to die with vacation time on the books.” ― Andrea Goeglein

We had our annual vacation to my sister Diane's house this past weekend. Like always the weekend was full of lawn games, swimming, walking, good food, campfires, and a lot of laughter. I will let the pictures tell the story of the weekend.

Thanks Diane and Rod for hosting us!

Irrational Anxiety.....

I got this sign for our camper. I love it. It has not only the rules for the camper but what I think should be the rules for life. Maybe if people played by these rules a little more the world would just be a little bit nicer place.  We all need to learn to be grateful for the day.....

Now on to my irrational anxiety. I love the Olympics and look forward to watching them. It is the one time that I will turn on the TV in the morning and keep it on the whole day. It is just fun to see all the sports that I don't usually watch and to see all the countries come together for the event. We all become invested in the athletes if only for the short time of the Olympics. So we have been watching some of the Olympic trials and I am getting all excited for the Olympics to started in August. Then I hear about all the terrorist attacks that have been happening and my thoughts go to the Olympics. I can't help thinking what  a perfect place it would be for them the try and pull off some awful attack and I start to get all anxious. I know totally irrational. That is the reason that I try to not watch the news. I also hate that the terrorist of the world have put these thoughts in my head because then that is what that want, they want us to fear them.....So I am working on those irrational anxieties.

"Almost all of us growing up have played baseball on some level. It has an inside track with people. It has a unifying effect." - Vin Scully

On Thursday night we got to watch Liam play baseball.

It was hard to get a good picture sitting behind the fence but I got a good series of shoots when he was up to bat and hit the ball.

                                                                Reaching for the ball

Just waiting for the next ball to come his way.

I can't believe how fast he is growing up. It does not seem like it has been 9 years since he was that little baby boy. He makes his Nana very proud of him.

First Trip To The Fair.....

Today Cassie, Nick and Larina came down to go to the big Waseca County Fair. It was fun to watch her as she saw all the animals for the first time. Larina was not to sure about the big horse.

She liked the cow a little bit more as long as mommy kept a tight hold on her.

She was pretty brave when it came to the sheep.

Mostly she just wanted to smile for the camera

It was a fun time at the fair!

Agrizoophobia.......

Cassie claims I have a little problem when it comes to picking out books. As we all know I love to read and read a lot. Since getting my Kindle and Prime from Amazon once a month I get to choose a book for free. They usually send you 4 to choose from. Well I almost always will pick the mystery/suspense books. Of course most of them are the first in a series so I will get the rest of them and keep reading. They all tend to be a little dark....you know rape, murder, kidnapping etc..... Cassie and I share all my Kindle books so she complained to me that I need some lighter reading. I told her she was full of crap all my books are not dark. So I went on my Kindle and looked at the books....She might have been a little right. I had to go back oh about two years to find a book that was not "dark"

I guess it is time to maybe get some lighter reading....

Which brings me to my latest book. It is a true story not a mystery so I must be moving into the right direction....

I had read a news story about a mountain biker that ran into a grizzly bear in Glacier Nation Park and was killed by the bear. In the article it mentioned the most deadly bear killing in the parks history that happened in 1967. Of course I had to research it and I found out that a book had been written about it. I went right on Amazon and ordered it up to my kindle. What a great book It is unbelievable what lead up to the attacks of the two young women that were killed that night. The book is a great history of how Glacier interacted with the bears and how it took a huge tragedy to change things for the better for the bears and for the people visiting the park.

I have always had a fear of bears and now I have an even bigger fear. I am glad that we are now camping in our big camper and not a tent, Of course if a big grizzly bear wanted to get in our camper it could....yep that is right I am being a more then a little paranoid. I blame this all on Cassie and her making me pick a book to read other then a mystery book. I think I am going to go back to my fictional rape, murder, kidnapping and zombie books.

Happy reading everyone
