In 2015 I learned.......

As 2015 comes to end I find myself reflecting on the year and what I learned in the year. So here you go.......

I learned that even if it is "just a dog" it is really hard to say goodbye. I don't know if I will ever get over having to put Dexter down and I don't know if I will every be able to forgive myself for doing it.

I learned that after 5 years of marriage to Rick that I still love him with all my heart. My favorite part of each and everyday is when we just talk and tell each other about our days. I love that he puts up with my ranting and raving and he just listens to me. He is always there for me when I need him.

I learned that adopting a dog that you know nothing about is quite the adventure! Otis is a 9 pound handful but we love him.

I learned that sometimes it is hard to believe how fortunate we are. We both have good jobs and are able to do the things we want to within reason. We were able to get that camper of our dreams this year and have been able to use it often.

I learned that maybe it was not such a smart idea to have carpal tunnel surgery on both hands at once even if the results were great in the end...

I learned that I have a new favorite cookie and I learned that it is best not to buy them often....

I learned that  grandchildren are the best

I learned that sometimes you have to do somethings that you really don't want to do because it is the right thing to do.....Sometime you get thrown into something that is going to be hard and a lot of work but  you do it anyhow because you know it is going help protect others. I also learned that it is okay to just let it all out and cry about it but then pick yourself back up and get back to work.

I learned that it is okay to just be silly and act like a kids sometimes. It is good to have fun!

I learned that the love of family is the most important thing of all....

2015 has been a good year.

Italian Orzo Spinach Soup

Today I made this delish soup for supper. It is a vegetarian meal so that is even better. Since I did not have time for lunch today I even had two bowls full. Josie was over for supper and she loved it. It must be good if a 7 year old like it. If you want the recipe click here . It is super easy to make and takes hardly anytime. The only thing I would do different is add a little more spinach.

Enjoy

The creepy things I see.....

Today as I am opening buildings at work I come across this.....It looked so much like a person just lying on the table it was creepy!

As I got closer  you can see that it is made of clay. The student who did the work did a great job. It looks very life-like. But it also looks very creepy. Always fun to come across things like this when you are by yourself in a dark building.

And then there is these.........Who makes molds of feet and then makes them look so creepy! It felt like I was on the set of some horror movie.

Good thing I have the next six days off of work so I will have time to recover from my shock :)

Happy Sunday everyone

Welcome to the world baby Larina......

Today we got to meet our newest granddaughter. She came into the world at 11:55 pm on 11-16-15. She was fighting leaving that warm place in her Mommy so she had to be taken by c-section. Cassie and Nick are so very happy to have Larina Blanche  in their lives. She was 7 pounds 5 ounces and 21 inches long. She is  heathy, beautiful baby girl. We cannot be more excited to have her in the family. Cassie and Nick are going to be wonderful parents.

                                                               I love baby feet...

10 Months, 16 Days and 14 Hours.....

10 months, 16 days and 14 hours ago I started with zero miles on my Fitbit. Today right around 2:00 I made my goal of going 2000 miles by the end of the year.  I guess you could say I became a little obsessed with getting my steps in everyday. It started out with just being happy with 10,000 steps a day but quickly moved passed that. I hated it if I did not get at least 15,000 steps a day.  This summer was great, I walked nonstop averaging 8 miles a day.  I had several days that I walked over 13 miles in a day. I am on my third pair of shoes and have had more blisters on my feet then I could keep track of.  I loved every minute of it!

After all the walking and hiking this summer I started thinking about running again. One of my friends ran her first marathon this summer and it really got me thinking that I need to start running again. Three years ago when I ran my last half marathon I said I was never going to run big race again. So I pretty much stopped running at all. Well I was really starting to get the bug again even telling Rick I thought I would start running again. Well the day after I told him that I was walking with my half marathon shirt on from the Mankato half I ran when I man I had seen running stopped me and asked if I was going to run it this year. He said it was the first half he had ever run. I told him it was the last half I had ran and was thinking I needed to get back into running. He said to me "don't let the dream die" and that was it. I went home and told Rick it is a sign I need to start running again. The next day I went for a 4 mile run. It was like I had never stopped. It felt so good. I guess nonstop walking has gotten me in pretty good shape. So I have been taking it slow only running once or twice a week. I know from my past running that I cannot over do it or it will result in injury.

So now I have new goals.  I have to slow down on my steps if I want to keep running. I have been running a couple times a week and am going to start lifting again. I want to run another half marathon.... Now that the time has changed it is dark when I get home so I am on the treadmill again. That suck because it seems like it takes forever to go 3-5 miles. Walking and running outside is a lot more fun. I will still get outside as much as I can when the weather is nice.

So thats it. I am giving myself a pat in the back for sticking to it and making my goal.....now onto the next goal.....
