Manners.....

While we were in Vegas Rick introduced me to a  man that had just won the shoot. We were in a group of people. As Rick introduced me to him before shaking my hand he took his hat off. I was so impressed by him doing it.  I cannot remember the last time a man has greeting me and taken his hat off. People forget what a showing of respect taking a hat off is. Now every time I see this man I am going to remember that he treated me with respect and think about what a nice guy he is.

It got me thinking about manners and etiquette. I am by no means a big etiquette person but I think we could all take a little from his example. It is so easy to forget the little things, saying thank you and your welcome, opening the door for someone or even just taking your hat off in greeting. How often do you see a person talking on there cell phone while being checked out at the grocery store and totally ignore the clerk.  It is just rude. People have gotten so impersonal with each other.  It is like manners do not exists anymore.

I love my cell phone and have been guilty of looking at it while with other people but I try to keep it in check. We were out to eat with some people the other day and two of the people had there phones sitting on the table the whole time. Really what is so important that you have to be looking at it the whole time we are eating and trying to visit. If you are looking at your phone paging though Facebook or playing some game you are not giving the people you are with your full attention. Once again it is just rude.  If your phone rings and it is important then excuse yourself and take the call. If it not important it can wait until you are done eating or visiting. Same goes for texting. Most of the time those text messages can wait.

We all need to work on being in the moment and being aware of what is going on around us and being polite to each other.

I am done with my rant now

Vegas 2016.....

Just a few more pictures from our road trip to Vegas and back.

On Saturday we went out to Red Rock Canyon to do a little hiking. It was a little colder then we were expecting. And very windy. We just randomly picked a trail and we were off. Colette and Andy joined us on our hike.

It was beautiful. The pictures never show the true beauty of it.

We hiked to this little water fall.

It was so windy that my hair was a big old mess but I cannot have a blog about our trip with out at least one selfie.

By the time we left the sun was setting. It was breathtaking

Rick shooting on the last day of the shoot.

The trip home started with dry roads and no snow. But you can see from the clouds what was coming up.

                                                      Lots and lots of snow!

On our second day of travel we had to stop in Evanston WY because they had closed down I-80 the night before. We decided to have a little lunch and luckily they opened it up. Because of it being closed down there was hundreds and hundreds of trucks waiting to get on the road. It took about an hour to finally get out of the truck traffic.  You can see in the picture below just how far it was lined up with trucks.

Some more pictures from on our way home. We have never had so much snow on all of are trips out to Vegas. It was so pretty with all the red rocks.

My poor new Rav-4 was so dirty! It preformed very well in  all the snow and ice. We were glad we got it before the trip.

This is my favorite stop on the trip. It is the only rest stop between Rawlins WY and Casper WY.  It is a long ways to go with out a break so I am always happy to see it :)

Yes I am happy to be out of the car and be moving around.

We spend our last night on the road in Hot Springs SD. We woke up to the beautiful sunrise. All these beautiful sites are the reason we drive every year. We have so many memories.....

We made it home around 5:30 on Wednesday evening. We drove 3341 miles on the trip.

I cannot wait until next year........

Happy Travels
