After much thought and shopping around we decided to downsize our camper. We loved our 30 foot Winnebago One but it was just too heavy. The dry weight on it was almost 7000 pounds. That is lot of weight to pull around. We wanted to travel more and farther away and pulling a big camper means high gas bills and low gas mileage even with a diesel truck. We also wanted something that we did not have to worry so much about the size of the campsite. A lot of the nicer State Park sites are not friendly to big campers. So we started doing our research and looking at smaller campers. We loved the Winnebago campers, everyone we talk to said they are one of best made campers. We had a RV/camper mechanic tell us that other then Airstream campers Winnebago is the best. He said that all the other camper brands he works on have way more problems then the Winnebago campers. A lot of people do not realize that
Winnebago makes travel trailer but they do and make several different styles. Since we can't afford to even look at a Airstream camper we went with second best and got another Winnebago. We researched several different styles and sized and decided to go with the Micro Minnie. While camping in IA this summer we talked to a couple that had one and looked at theres. They loved it. In MN there are only two dealerships that sale Winnebago travel trailers and it seemed that when they got them in they went fast. We knew what we wanted and what floor plan we wanted so the hunt was on. I was excited when the exact one we wanted showed up at
AC Nelsen in Shakopee Rick gave them a call did some negotiating and then 5 days later we went up and had ourselves a new 2018 Micro Minnie 2108DS.
It is 21 feet long with a dry weight of 3900 pounds. It feels like we are not even pulling anything when it is behind the truck. For a little camper it has ton of storage room. That was one of the selling points to it. I was super happy that I found a place to put all my shoes...I may have a shoe addiction problem....
The slide out is the dinette and also will go down to a bed if we want to take a grandchild or two with us camping.
It has a full refrigerator with a freezer, which most small campers do not have. It also had a three burner stovetop and a oven.
We went with the Murphy bed style floor plan. The bed goes up and down super easy and has plenty of head room for anyone to sit on the couch. It is nice to have a couch to sit on during the day.
The bathroom has a full separate shower. I did not want a camper that has a wet bath, were the shower, toilet and sink are all in the same area and you have to wipe the whole room down every time you take a shower. That is something that a lot of small campers have and I knew I would hate.
So that is it our new camper! I cannot wait to take out for her first trip.
Happy Camping
Sharon
