So after I spent all summer running and walking I started to develop a rash under my arms where my sports bra sat. It was not to bothersome so I pretty much just left it alone. It would get better then came back but never bad enough that I thought I had to go to the doctor. Well when I had my yearly check up in December it was acting up and the doctor told me it was from shaving. So she said I could not shave for 3 months and it should go away or she could put me on an antibiotic for 10 days and it would clear right up. So of course I chose the antibiotic. This was my first mistake......
So 10 days later it is no better, in fact it seemed to be getting worse. So mistake number two...I contacted the doctor and told her it was not better. So she put me on another antibiotic for 14 days this time. So mistake number three...Even though it was not getting better and even seemed to be getting worse, spreading to my chest and back I kept taking it. I should have called the doctor but I though I just need to finish the antibiotic and it will work.
So I finished the antibiotic on Friday morning and it was really starting to itch and hurt. I called the dermatologist office and made an appointment for as soon as I could get in, which was not until the following Thursday. Well by Monday morning I was covered in rash from head to toe. I was so itchy that I could not sleep. I tried every over the counter medicine for itching/rash and nothing worked. Thankfully my appointment was today at 7:30 in the morning. I practically ran into her office. To say I was miserable is an understatement. So I figured I must be allergic to the antibiotic and that is why I was so covered in rash. She said that is more likely that something that I was exposed to caused the rash and the antibiotic just made it worse. She took two biopsies of the rash and will test them to see what kind of rash it is and it should give her more of a clue what caused it. She gave me a shot to help with the itching and pain and two different creams.
By the time I got home the shot was working, the itching had gone way down. So hopefully It will get better. I have to go back in a week for a recheck and find what the biopsy shows.
I have to say the itching was way worse then any pain I have ever been in.
I know woe to me.....
