On Monday we started the day with an appointment with our financial advisor at Edward Joens
We have been meeting with him at least yearly and we always talk about when we can realistically retire. My goal has been to be able to leave Carleton by 2020 and work part time. The last time we talked it looked like we could make that goal. Well things are now looking even better and it looks like I should be able to move on as soon as January 2019. I am so excited. I can see the end in sight. I am so tired of driving in the winter and working weekends and holidays. I want to be able to work part time at a job I actually enjoy going to. All of our saving, planing and investing has paid off.
After I left our meeting I drove right to the bank and did something that we have been working our butts off for the past six years.
I paid our mortgage off!!!! When we bought the house we had a 15 year mortgage on it. We have managed to pay it off in six years and two months. I have been paying extra on it since we got the loan and the last two plus years I have been paying more the double payments. It was so exciting to go into the bank and say what is my payoff and write the check out. What a great feeling to know we own our house free and clear. It makes the goal of retirement so much more of a reality.
I ended the day with yoga class
It was a perfect end to a perfect day
So with such a great start to the week how could it get any better.......
Well it did with the engagement of my nephew Jeff and his partner CJ. I have not been so happy to hear of an engagement since my own children got engaged. I am overjoyed for them.
The rest of the week has been a lot of little things that brought me joy
I have wanting a new sewing machine table since my sewing machine broke. The machine I am using now did not fit in the old one I had and it was falling apart. So I ordered one up an Amazon and Rick got it put together right away for me.
I am loving it. I have tons more area to sew on now.
I also got to see all the grandkid this week. I don't have any pictures of them as we were to busy having fun to take pictures.
Lastly I made my favorite cake.
I don't bake as often as I use to because I just eat it all....But when I was given a zucchini I had to make this cake. It is soooooo good. Rick and I both love it.
Here is the recipe for any of you that want to try it.
Life has been good to me.....
