I am so sad that I ran out of storage room on my blog. I had to either pay for more storage, delete some of the blog  or start another one for free. I did not want to pay for what I can get for free and really hated to delete a bunch of my old post so I went for the new one. So here it is....

We had a great Thanksgiving. The first thing we did for Thanksgiving is run the Northfield Turkey Trot. It was a great morning for a run. After that we went to Sarah and Jon's house for supper. It was Sarah's first time hosting a big family gathering and she did a great job. Sunday we had another Thanksgiving for Rick's family at Karen and Randy's house in Albert Lea.

On Friday Amy, Christa and I got up at 4:00 and did a little black Friday shopping. We had lots of fun and got lots of shopping done. I am almost done with my Christmas shopping.

Sunday morning the kids, grandkids and Rick and I all met in Faribault and had some family pictures taken. I am excited to see them. I think we got some good ones. It was pretty cold in the morning so we took them fast!

The buffet that is in the pictures above came from Ricks Mom's house. She no longer wanted it so I said I would take it. It had been painted a very ugly brown. So Rick stripped it and we both sanded it down and found it had very beautiful wood under all that paint.  We decided not to put any stain on it since the wood is so dark and has so much character. Rick put three coats of clear varnish on it and now we have a wonder piece of furniture.

So back when I was 6 years old and in first grade at St. Lawrence school I was  playing on the playground at recess. We all were lined up to slide down the big metal slide, you know the kind that they have pretty much outlawed now because they were so dangerous. When it was my turn and I was at the very top the boy behind me got excited and tried to get up to fast and I got pushed off and landed on my head on the black topped ground, I was knocked out cold. I remember coming to and seeing the circle of kids and nuns standing around me. I remember the nuns picking me up and taking me into the nunnery and then going to the hospital with my mom. My Mom will tell you that she was on the phone talking to my aunt and when the nun's could not get through to her that had the operator break into her phone call to tell her there was an emergency. My poor older sister was in school that day too and other kids told her I was dead. She was pretty upset. So it ended up that I had a severe concussion.  I was out of school for a week. I remember feeling so sleepy and throwing up over and over again. It took awhile to recover.
Anyhow there is a reason I am telling you this story. Amy said one of friends from work who is her friend on Facebook told her she knew one of her other Facebook friends. When Amy asked her who she said it was Sharon Becker. Amy told her it was her mom. She then went on to tell her that she went to grade school with me and my sister and that she remembers me because I was the one who fell off the slide! She said she thought I was dead! It is so funny that she remembers that since it was over 40 years ago. I guess it might have been a pretty big deal when it happened since this is not the first time I have run into people that have brought it up to me. Good thing I was not dead after all :)

So here you have it, my first post on my new blog....

Later
Sharon
