Fall is my favorite time to go camping. I love that the campground are less crowded and the weather is cooler. There is noting better then sitting by a campfire on a cool night.
This past weekend we went to Stevens Point WI. We decided to go there because we have a friend that is going to college there and after some research I found out they have great biking trails. We left on Wed. afternoon and come home on Sunday morning.
We stayed at Jordan County Park. It is a great little park. There is only 22 camp sites and when we got there on Wed. only 5 of them were in use.
Our campsite was good sized and very shady.
We got a new truck last week! We got a 2013 used 2500 Dodge Ram diesel. It only had 12,000 miles on it. It pulled the camper so much nicer. We wanted something a little bigger for towing so in a couple of years we can upgrade our camper to something a little bigger.
Back to camping. The campground had some really nice trails though the woods. Morgan has gotten so bad walking, she pulls and pulls. It is time to get out the training collar again.
We biked the Green Circle trail on Thursday and Friday. It is a 26 mile trail that goes around the city of Stevens Point. The trail is mostly crushed rock and in the woods. About 1/3 of it goes through the neighborhoods of the town. There are several off shoots on the trail so you can make it over 30 miles.
Thursday it was raining in the morning and the weather said it was going to clear up in the afternoon. So I checked the radar and it looked that we were in the clear. So we packed up the bikes and went to the trail. We go about 9 miles in when it started to rain, then it started to pour! We decided to turn around and bike back to the truck. We go so wet and muddy.
They have several parts of the trail that go over swamp and wet area's so they have wood over them. We were biking along on one of them in the pouring rain and Rick was way ahead of me. I was thinking to myself as I biked slow that he sure is going fast on this slippery wood. I went around a corner to find him on the ground! Yep his bike slipped on the wood and down he went. He sprained his pinky finger but other then that he was lucky. He slowed down after that :)
Friday the weather was beautiful so we went back to the trail and biked the whole thing. It is such a great bike trail.
The river was really high and flooding. There was several places over the trail that we had to go through water. Some local people said they have never seen the trails so flooded.
We saw lots of deer on the trail.
One of the off shoots of the trail went though a sculpture park.
On Saturday we just took it easy. We went into town to the farmers market and then just hung around the campgrounds. We had wanted to go the a mountain biking park but it was closed because the rain had made the trails to muddy.
They named a town hall after me :)
Saturday night we left the dogs in the camper and went for a walk around the park. It was so pretty out.
This is the river below the dam
Another great trip!
